Tis’ the season for warm apple crisp with a nice dollop of delicious homemade ice cream right?! Check out this unique and yummy vegan dessert recipe that is great to do with your kids! Kids love to see how ice cream is made no matter what their age is.

This recipe serves 4-6 people.

Ingredients for the vegan dessert recipe: Apple Crisp

  • 8 apples, cored and chopped
  • 1/3 cup of apple juice
  • ½ cup of maple syrup
  • ¼ cup of raisins
  • Ingredients for the apple crisp topping:
  • 1 cup of rolled oat flakes
  • ½ cup of flour
  • ¼ cup of margarine
  • ¼ cup of vegan sugar
  • 1 tsp. of cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. of powdered ginger
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • Ingredients for the vegan homemade ice cream recipe:
  • 1 cup of soft tofu
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • ½ cup of oil
  • 2 bananas, chopped
  • 1/3 cup of dry vegan sugar
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 ½ tbsp. of vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Instructions for apple crisp recipe:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Core and chop up the apples in to tiny pieces. Oil your baking dish and place apples in the dish then mix in the raisins. Using a small bowl, mix the juice and maple syrup together creating a syrup mixture. Pour the syrup mixture over the apples and raisins evenly. In a med. sized bowl mix the oats, flour, margarine, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and nutmeg together. Sprinkle this flour mixture over the apple and raisin mixture. Bake in the oven for 30-40 min.

Instructions for the vegan dessert recipe: I scream, you scream we all scream for… Homemade Ice Cream! 

In your food mixer blend all of the vegan homemade ice cream ingredients listed above until very smooth and creamy. Place the ice cream mixture into a sealed container and freeze. Take out the ice cream and defrost for about 20-40 min. Blend the ice cream in your food mixer again. Put the ice cream back in the sealed container and freeze again. Take the ice cream out of the freezer for about 5 min. before serving.
