Running During COVID-19: Run Alone

The first piece of advice we have for running during the COVID-19 pandemic is to stick with solo runs. Running with a group of friends is normally a great way to push someone and enjoy their company, but given the current situation, running with a group of people can easily lead to the spread of COVID-19.

Go Outside

Some gyms are open while others are closed. While weightlifting can be safe if you wear a mask, keep your distance from others, and clean your equipment before and after use —doing cardio can be a bit harder when you are breathing heavily in an enclosed space. A better alternative would be to run outside if possible.

Keep Your Distance

As you are off on your solo run, also make sure you are keeping your distance from others. What does this mean? Be strategic about where you plan on running and avoid crowds as much as possible. This way, you can reduce your chances of catching the virus or spreading it if you are asymptomatic.

Wear a Mask When Necessary When Running During COVID-19

The next tip for runners during COVID-19 is to wear a face mask whenever it’s necessary. If you are on a run outside and aren’t near anybody, then you don’t have to wear your face mask. However, you should still bring one just in case, and be sure to wear it properly if you happen to come across anyone during your run or stop somewhere.

Get a Home Treadmill

If you can’t find a location outside where you can run on your own or the weather is starting to take a turn of the worst, then you should consider purchasing a treadmill for your home. Many people are moving towards building home gyms with plenty of workouts to try on a treadmill.
