Clear Skin for All

The easiest way to achieve natural beauty is to have and maintain a clear, dewy complexion.  Studies have shown that both men and women are deemed as more attractive if they have great skin.  The hard part is finding a routine that helps promote a clear complexion.  Not all skin is made equally; some people have oily skin, some have dry, some have combination, and some have “normal” skin.  All types of skin are prone to blemishes if you don’t properly take care of it.

Normal Skin Care Tips:

No matter what type of skin you have, it should be a regular part of your routine to wash your face twice a day; this applies to both men and women.  In the morning, I usually stick with a cleanser that is more natural and gentle on the skin.  At night, I prefer to use a more heavy duty cleanser to take away the all the day’s wear: sweat, makeup, etc. For both day and night, after cleansing my skin I have a routine of using toner and a hydrating lotion.  When picking out toner, do not select toners that are alcohol based as it will dry out your skin, especially during winter.  It might also be wise to invest in two different types of moisturizers: one for daytime and one for nighttime.  Daytime moisturizers should be light and have SPF, while nighttime moisturizers should be filled with nutrients and be hydrating.

Monthly routines that are beneficial for all types of skin include exfoliating, spa facials, photofacials, and microdermabrasion.  Our skin is the biggest organ of our body as it is constantly growing, shedding, and repairing.  Sometimes our skin needs a small push with exfoliation to expose the brand new skin underneath.  Depending on your budget, you can find ways to exfoliate your skin with simple over the counter scrubs or get it professionally done at a spa or beauty clinic.

Acne Prone Skin Care Tips:

Maintaining clear and beautiful skin is a simple thing for people who don’t have an issue with acne, however, for those who are prone to acne, finding the right skin care regimen requires slightly more work.  Generally for those who have acne problems, it is best to pick both a cleanser and a moisturizer that contains acne treatment medication such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid.  When selecting the right cleanser, make sure that the acne-fighting cleanser doesn’t have a tendency to dry out your skin.  If having acne has been a recurrent problem and over the counter treatments and medication doesn’t work, consider going into a dermatologist.  You dermatologist might prescribe you medication that is stronger or introduce you to other options such as laser vein treatment.

Finding the right routine for your skin is probably the hardest part of maintaining a clear and healthy complexion.  However other external and internal factors may influence the health of your skin.  For example, high stress levels are apparent on the skin as it is a common reason for why people tend to break out.  Your diet is another important factor to the overall health of your skin.  Your body reflects what you eat.  Not drinking enough water, not eating vegetables and fruits, and overeating sweets, fried foods, etc can have a toll on your skin.
