<p>Millions of people suffer from hearing disabilities, in the US; this affects 34 million individuals, most of who are below the age of retirement.  Whether from growing older, born with this impairment or by accident, it is a health concern that is somewhat overlooked. With the evolution of technology, hearing aids have become more effective, smaller and easier to use. There has however, been the inconvenience of the individuals who are active. Certain sports may be limited, especially ones that may include an element of increased movement and an instance of shock to the hearing aids. This is even more difficult for hearing impaired individuals who enjoy water engagement such as swimming, kayaking, skiing and other wet sports.</p>
<h3>A Need For Innovation</h3>
<p>Out of those affected by hearing loss today in the US, 10 million wear ear hearing aids with many saying that they are limited in their daily activities, this is according to a survey conducted in 2011 by Applied Research. The survey discloses that hearing aids play a major role in individuals choosing activities in their daily routines and even a rainy day can have an effect on their hearing and the functionality of their hearing aids. Manufacturers around the world have seen the need to further evolve their hearing aids to be more functional and have introduced water resistant hearing aids into the market. These manufacturers have further innovated their designs and have now created not only water resistant but shock and dust resistant hearing aids that are fully waterproof.  The gap in the market was evident, especially after the survey further cemented the need, this new technology will have a significantly positive impact on the lives of active seeking hearing impaired individuals. Refraining from certain activities and sports that enhance the lives of people can not only prove an inconvenience but even a factor in causing deeper afflictions such as depression, anxiety, social isolation, cognitive decline and anger. The Better Hearing institute in the US have also evaluated that adults with hearing impairments are at a greater risk of heart attack, dementia and Alzheimer’s. All of these factors make the need for hearing aids that enhance individuals lives that much more important.</p>

As we get older, our bodies develop deficiencies and ailments that come with age, such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which causes vision loss. Here are five things to remember to help you get started with eating well for your eyes:</p>
<p><strong>Seafood </strong>–<strong> </strong>A number of fish and other seafood are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are really good for the nerves in the retina.  DHA is a particular omega-3 fatty acid that’s found in high concentration in the retina, more than any other part of the body. Low DHA could encourage the incidence of AMD.<strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Apples  </strong>– The reason why an apple a day keeps the doctor away is because it’s rich in antioxidants, and these antioxidants protect our cells from damage and keep them healthy. Apples also contain plant pigments called quercitin, which protect the eyes from solar radiation, and rutin which helps maintain small blood vessels in the retina.<strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Yellow fruits and veggies </strong>– Our eyes need vitamin A to be able to see in low light and to see color. You can get vitamin A from a great number of fruits and vegetables, but one easy thing to remember is that yellow and orange vegetables are a good source of vitamin A. Carrots, pumpkins, and squashes are rich in beta carotene, a form of vitamin A. Mangoes are also filled with vitamin A, as well as vitamin E, which help relieve eye pressure.<strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Citrus fruits </strong>– Vitamin C is pretty much the king of antioxidants. Aside from boosting our immune systems, vitamin C also serves as a natural filter against UV rays. Citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, and grapefruits are rich in vitamin C.<strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Dark, leafy greens </strong>– Our moms always told us to eat our vegetables, and for good reason. These have various vitamins and minerals to help keep us healthy, and a number of dark, leafy ones are good for the eyes. Spinach, in particular, is packed with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin C, beta carotene, as well as lutein and zeaxanthin, which protects the rods and cones of the eyes from damage from UV light. <li>Don’t sweat the small stuff. Try not to get upset over the little details that don’t go exactly your way. Chances are you won’t remember these little things anyway.</li>
<li>Get plenty of rest. Nothing makes you look and feel more stressed out than lack of sleep. Go to sleep early. You may even want to take a tip from Thomas Edison and start power napping. <li>Learn to say no. Saying no can be difficult but it’s critical when you’re feeling frazzled. Don’t over commit before your big day. Your family and friends will understand if you can’t get together or take on extra responsibilities. Free up time to do what’s important and meaningful to you.</li>
<li>Reduce your stress. Yes, stress can affect the way you look not to mention the way you feel. If you feel stressed, schedule time to exercise or take a walk outside. Other stress relievers may include time with family &amp; friends, yoga, meditation or even petting your dog. Take short breaks throughout your day to do something that is going to recharge you and give you energy.</li>
<li>Get inspired. Surround yourself with greatness &amp; beauty. Walk through an art museum, listen to a masterpiece, reread a favorite novel or watch a great movie. All of these things will give you positive energy &amp; inspire you.</li>
<li>Unplug &amp; disconnect. More than ever, we’re inundated with connecting &amp; communicating with each other 24/7. Limit your phone &amp; computer use and don’t bring your phone to bed! You might even try doing a technology and media fast for an entire day.</li>
<li>Eat a healthy diet. We’ve all heard the saying you are what you eat. Guess what? It’s true. If you eat a lot of processed junk food, you will see and feel it. Plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and foods high in Vitamin E and Omega-3s will make you feel good inside and out. Cooking can also be a great way to reduce stress.</li>
<li>Breathe. Take three, deep breaths. What changes do you notice? You probably feel more at ease and relaxed. Remember that you always have your breath. If you feel stressed in a situation, slow down and breathe.</li>

<p>10.  Be open. Try to look at things with an open mind. If you approach situations like planning a wedding with an open mind you’ll be happier and be able to go with the flow.</p>

<p>When wisdom teeth do come in, they are often pushed at odd angles by other teeth and might not break through the gum line, which dentists refer to as “impacted” wisdom teeth. This condition usually causes a dentist to prescribe an easy surgery for wisdom teeth removal.</p>
<p>Read on for some information on how to make wisdom teeth removal a snap.</p>
<p><strong>To remove or not</strong></p>
<p>Sometimes people make the choice to remove their wisdom teeth even before they become impacted. This is a standard recommendation that many dentists will make once a patient becomes a teenager. The idea is that by removing the teeth before they become impacted, certain complications might be avoided.</p>
<p><strong>The surgery</strong></p>
<p>Patients who get wisdom teeth removal surgery are put under general anesthesia, meaning they are not conscious for the surgery and need someone to pick them up once the surgery is over. Most of the time, the surgery itself is fairly easy and lasts only a couple hours. It is a routine surgery and most dentists do dozens if not hundreds a year.</p>
<p>The surgery itself if the largest part of the bill for wisdom teeth removal. If you do not have any insurance to cover the cost of this routine procedure, you may want to ask about a payment plan, since it will include the cost of the removal, anesthesia, after care medication and any other work related to the removal of wisdom teeth.</p>
<p><strong>Recovery</strong></p>
<p>This is where some complications from wisdom teeth removal can exist. The most common post-surgery complication is continued bleeding. Sucking on teabags can help stem the bleeding, and it should become less apparent after a day or two. Another complication is dry socket, which is an inflammation of the jaw bone. While it is not an infection, it can be quite painful and is a higher risk for smokers. Keeping the removal site clean is a key to avoiding dry socket.</p>
<p>If a patient experiences intense pain in the removal site, he or she should call the dentist immediately. While many times there is not much that can be done to prevent dry socket, patients should follow their dentist’s instructions to a T to make sure they are doing everything in their power to prevent this painful condition.</p>
