Republic Wireless your new discount cell carrier

Republic Wireless is an interesting new cellular carrier that tries to save costs by offering a hybrid service model where data and calls go over wifi whenever as much as possible to save costs and be more efficient on data usage over the cell lines. Anyways they have you pay $200 for the first month which gets you an android device and then after that it is only $20 a month for unlimited talk and data without hidden costs and fees. Their website is very slimmed down and to the point without all of the hidden pages and depth of many of the other major carriers such as AT&T or Verizon among others. It is an interesting business model as many carriers charge much more than this and still have similar bundle packages. Many people have given them good reviews and are liking the service quality.

Personally it is very difficult to switch from a major carrier, despite the premium cost, due to the availability of physical stores and support channels to go through should something go wrong with a phone… something absolutely essential in the corporate environment and important when trying to keep the Global Good Network alive and kicking!

It will be interesting to see how this company does over time and if they are able to hit the size and scale necessary to keep them alive with lower margins.. offering unlimited everything for $20/month must be difficult to manage for the executives and founders of the firm. Anyways we are happy to see some low costing alternatives being made available to the general public, definitely a Global Good, as it allows people of all walks of life and income in the US at least, to afford a smart phone and the data and voice service they need to be successful and/or change the world!

It is a very hot topic and is even trending on google right now!

Very rarely does a tool come along that not only improves your daily life, but changes it for the foreseeable future. Facebook for example, brought together over 750 million people onto one social platform to share, engage, interact and catch up. For many of us, being able interact with friends and read the latest tweet of Lady Gaga is enough, but for those of us who look for something further: the ability to engage, be a thought leader and influence others, the search has been tough — until now.

My BundlePost Experience

Back in February I was up for a social media interview. In my interview I was asked by the CEO how many followers I had, to which I responded 151. My Klout score, then in the mid-40s, has shot up now to the mid-60s, and the number of followers I have had as well, has also grown exponentially too. Where then I was around 151 followers, I am now closer to 1,300 (see graph below). Not a bad jump for 6 months if you ask me.

I now recommend this tool to everyone I meet who tells me they are interested in getting better at social media.

Google’s Doodles and Special Logos – Who Makes Them?

If you are like many you use the Google search tool quite frequently and have also most likely been to it on a day where they had customized the logo. On special days they often change their logo to remember a certain cause or person or theory that has importance. Sometimes it may be remembering the birthday of some famous scientist or even inventors of things like the game pacman ( they had a pacman game on google one day for remembering pacman’s birthday ).

The idea for changing their logo initially came when Larry Page and Sergey Brin wanted to go out to Burning Man Festival but needed to leave some form of themselves back at the office or on the site to show what they were up to or that they were out of the office. Now the idea has been extended after they initially changed the logo that first time to include burning man’s official iconic stick picture popping. People often enjoy the Google Logo doodles and usually will click the google logo itself which will return a google results page with information and articles about what Google’s logo represents on that day.

Today Google’s logo is an old tv which shows I Love Lucy clips from top episodes with a little sound button as well for music. the TV has several stations and really is a testament to Googles creativity and uniqueness. Keep it up google!

iPhone 5 Release Updated News and Information

According to an article on the iPhone5Release.org website Apple is planning to build 25 millions iPhone 5’s in 2011. The iPhone 5 is the latest update to the iPhone 4 that has been out for over a year now. This year the iPhone 4 became open to other cell phone carriers such as Verizon rather than solely AT&T within the United States at least. It is most probably that the iPhone will be launched to several networks at once simultaneously but I would not put it past Apple Inc to some how try some marketing tactic for the Buzz and stagger the launch dates for each carrier and such.

The release date for the iPhone 5 is now rumored and said to be in October whereas prior many were expecting a September release. Sources on the internet are saying that some of Apple’s suppliers and manufacturers for the parts have released some of these hints. Foxconn, is the main global producer for a lot of the iPhones and they are going to have to really kick up and accelerate the development of them to meet such a lofty goal as 25 million phones which is not very easy when you consider the complexity and delicate nature of these powerful and expensive devices.

Suppliers to Foxconn are supposedly trying to get their shipments in by August so that the manufacturer outsourcer can really start pumping these babies out. Apple ofcourse has not released much information, …as usual… , and will likely not release much more information until just right before the launch. It will be interesting this year to see how many people get the new iPhone versus trying to go for something new like the Android phones which are now just as powerful if not more powerful than many iPhones in terms of memory and CPU and other factors included these days. The Motorola Atrix for example included a full GB of ram nearly doubling that of the iPhone 4’s memory and that was already months and months ago so it will be interesting to see how Apple is going to push the limits this round.

There are also other new expected features such as more gestures being added to the user interface of the new operating system for iPhones and iPads which will be used instead of hardware buttons.
